Angie Hiesl + Roland Kaiser on research trip to Shanghai & Hongkong

Angie Hiesl + Roland Kaiser complete 2017 with yet another trip to a faraway destination – this time they will be visiting China for a two-week research trip.

By courtesy of the local Goethe Institute they will spend a few days in Shanghai where they will hold an interdisciplinary workshop project on November 18 and 19 as well as a lecture at the Ming Contemporary Art Museum. The goal is to explore the relationship between body and space at the interface of performing and fine arts. The artistic actions will be integrated as instant performances into the everyday life of the museum.

The second part of this trip will lead them to Guangzhou, Hongkong and Macao. They look forward to meeting again performers from earlier projects as well as to making new contacts with artists from the independent art scene.

The central issue of the encounters will be the contemporary performative art in China in the context of the present political and societal developments in both cultures.
